  • (5-10 min) Ed Tech Standards (quick reflection):
    • Many of you attempted to take the 6 National/State Ed Tech Standards and apply them to your curriculum area. Kudos.

    • Demo:  Eva's (SKeizRules) |   Brianna's  |   Stacey's 
      • Wonderful Web2.0 connection to NETS*S by COSN (focus on top 7 priorities)
    • A few more demo's (if time permits): Marta & Margaret

  • (~20-25 min) Reflect on Oregon's new Technology Standards and Requirements (began in 2008)

    • Quik Summary: NETS*S -> Oreg. Ed Tech Standards -> new Oregon Diploma -> NETS*T 
    • Small groups: big picture (goals) followed by curricular examples
    • Preface with Alex's quote on one of the biggest roadblocks to implementation.

      • Group 1: Creativity and Innovation
        • Quick state some examples & what are the stresses/frustrations/roadblocks/solutions in implementation?
      • Group 2: Communication and Collaboration
        • Quick state some examples & what are the stresses/frustrations/roadblocks/solutions in implementation?

Assignment: OTEN Conference & Reflection on Sept 24th:
8:30am-noon. Required for all Ed Tech students (Aspire1s, Cohort-A and Cohort-B). 
  • Theme: Inspiration in Technology Integration
  • Target Audience: for Pre-Service Teachers, Practicing Teachers, Mentor Teacher and Teacher Education Faculty
  • Schedule: Keynote at 8:30am, and two morning work sessions.
  • There will be about a dozen sessions to choose from.
  • Reflection/Assignment:  
    • Each student is requested to attend the opening Keynote, and select two work sessions.
    • Use a free Web2.0 tool called Yodio to record your reflection, then Post in your student Blog
      Yodio (short video tutorial and free registration).
      • Student Demo #1 from the 2009 OTEN conference. Demo #2 (to the max). 
      • Use your cell phone to record a 1 to 2 minute summary/reflection of the keynote and two work sessions

      • Drag/drop audio onto slides (and pics if you took some)
      • A URL (web address) will be generated. Share with anyone! Fun and easy to use.
      • Add a new Post in your course blog titled OTEN conference. Provide a quick overview and link to your Yodio presentation.
  • For those who will not be able to attend (dire emergency), be sure to inform your instructor well in advance
    • The alternate activity will be to check out a portable Smart Board (from Steve Rhine) and prepare a 10 to 15 minute presentation on how to set up and effectively utilize a Smartboard in the classroom. Talk with your instructor ahead of time for full details.
